GREAT NEWS, Starting July 1 2004, our river will be a Hatchery Supported Waters - Hatchery Supported Waters are stocked by state hatcheries with catch able size trout. Stockings are made from March through August although some waters are only stocked in Spring. Most waters are stocked at four-week intervals, but some heavily fished waters are stocked more frequently. Most Hatchery Supported streams will not support trout year-round; however, some do contain small wild trout populations.

This one was caught at Slippery Rock!

Testimonials from our customers.

Greetings Richard, Debby and Rick!
First of all let me thank you for the wonderful hospitality that you all showed to Jeff and I when we spent Memorial Day weekend with you.  We loved every minute of it and were so impressed with how you all take care of the campers and make every effort to see to it that folks have a good time.  I meant to email you right after we got home, but you know how that goes....
Our camper has been at the RV place to repair the electric box that burned out on us when we were up at your place.  Our insurance company finally got down there and provided and estimate so we are just getting it fixed this week.  Should be ready to be picked up and brought home any day now.  Thanks again to Richard who took the time to help Jeff look into what the problem was the morning that we lost power.
Now I would like to make a reservation for the first weekend of October (3 nights: arriving Friday, 10/5 and leaving Monday 10/8) and would like to reserve site E6 (E5 if E6 is taken).  Richard talked so enthusiastically about the Old Fort Oktoberfest and I believe that it is the Saturday of that weekend (10/6).  We plan on arriving early afternoon on Friday so that we can go into town to listen to the Blue Grass music, too.
Please let me know if you can accommodate our request and if you would like me to send you a check or provide a credit card number for the deposit.
Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Hello!  Thanks again for a great weekend.  We had a lot of fun on E-7.  My oldest son loved the river and the playground.  My husband loved fishing in the pond.  That was our first camping adventure as a family and we had a blast.  We'll definitely be back.
Sincerely,

Hi Rick! I just wanted to say thank you again for the wonderful time I had at your place. Primitive camping isn't so bad! Thank Ricky for me too! See you in the spring. Heather

Rick, thanks so much to you and Ricky for welcoming us, helping us set up, and making us feel at home last weekend. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back to electric site 3!!!! Kathi Noblin and Heather

Dear Rick,
Thanks again for a wonderful time.  We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot.  We hope the other family is enjoying the cabin as much as we did.  We would like to reserve it for a weekend in October.  We would plan on coming in on the evening of the 21st and leave the morning of the 23rd.  We can only imagine how beautiful it will be then.
Thanks again,
Mark and Mendy Barringer

Rick,
We just wanted to say thanks for the enjoyable week we had there.  The peace and quiet of the area, the sounds of the river and the friendliness of you and your son were just wonderful.  This was the first time we had the dogs camping with us for a week other than to my parents property and it was perfect.  They really enjoyed walking in the woods and running around in the river.  I would have like to have stayed another week but alas our jobs were calling us home.  I am sure we will be back again sometime to visit and will tell any of our RVing friends where to stay in North Carolina.
Thanks again and hope you have a great year!

Within the last two weeks three couples have toured areas of Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina primarily using facilities found in your Passport America Book.  While several campgrounds were enjoyable one in particular stood out and is worthy of several laudable comments. Specifically Catawba River Campground located in Old Fort, North Carolina.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a gentleman named Rick who graciously saw that we were taken care of in an expeditious and very pleasant manner.  Once we were personally taken to our sites
we then began to realize the beauty of this camping gem.
Our rigs, three motor homes, backed up to the Catawba River that, at that juncture looked more like a spring.  The sounds coming from the rushing water was most relaxing and the movement of the water was like a never ending National Geographic experience in real life.
A walk along the designated path across two make shift bridges allowed us to view the most beautiful and natural shrubbery while watching and listening to the river make its way into seven lakes and joined by three other rivers which emptied into the ocean.  For anyone who was looking for Primitive type camping spots they were made available all along this magnificent sight.
The campground is located just off a hard road with little to no traffic allowing for a quiet nights rest and relaxation with friends or private quiet time.
The owner made a special trip over to our sights to introduce himself and share many of the historical points connected to the location and surrounding area.
While the initial drive into the rather small campground did not give away all the hidden gems of this wonderful experience it did not take long for us to acknowledge that we would be back in the near future.

We would like to extend our many thanks for the kind and friendly service provided on Sunday, May, 9, 2004. Also, the tree we asked about is actually a " fringtree", very delicate and fragrant flowers. Much luck and if we are ever back in the area we will look forward to another stay, short as it may be. Maybe even some fishing if permitted.

Best regards,  Bob and Betty Sharp  North Ridgeville, Ohio

Greetings Richard, Ricky Jr., and  Family,

I hope everything is going good up in NC. We stayed with you the week before  4th of July, I'm the guy who had to borrow a crutch from you. We had a great time, the campsite that we were on was fantastic, and we are looking forward to our next trip to NC.

                                                                                        Thanks for a Great Week,

Rick and Debra,

Greetings, this is Scott Baskett and family wanting to spend another great weekend at your campground this fall. It looks like our schedules and your availablity will work out on the weekend of Oct 22nd and 23rd. Please pencil us in for the cabin that weekend if you have the availability. I don't remember if I needed to hold the cabin with a credit card. If I do, please reply and I'll call you with the information. Kids are really looking forward to coming to Old Fort. They specifically want to go to your campground, it must hold a special place in their hearts, it does in mine. It truly has become a much anticipated event in our lives. Look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Scott Baskett

Hi Debbie we made it home around midnight on Sun. Boy the traffic was heavy!!! Anyway I am still in NC (in my mind:)   Slowly getting back into FL mode. Man it is hot down here and there is no river outside my door!!!  Miss you and had a great time at your campground. I have several people I have told about your place and I think you might be meeting some of them. It won't be until Sept or so.  Guess I better go I have a pile of work You have a wonderful Day          Love Kim and Parker

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at your campground. We had a great time visiting some of the local attractions and fishing in the campground pond. It figures the rain would finally stop the day we leave (we have luck that is described as the plaque I once saw that read "One day your ship with come in and with your luck, you'll be at the airport!")

We hope to see you again next year. Sam Miller
